Eat BBQ But Don’t Get Barbecued!

While umbrellas are flying in the rainy season of Manila, Xiamen’s weather is the exact opposite. It’s nice to enjoy the carefree season of sunshine in this small island paradise but too much heat can lead to trouble too, so let’s take extra care and know what to wear.

Wear Sunscreen Daily! Apply it every morning, at least 30 minutes before stepping out of the house. Make sure you use a sunscreen that’s SPF 15 or higher for better protection from UVB and UVA rays.

Be Cool but Comfortable! Light-colored clothes absorb less heat than dark-colored ones and so it is best to wear it especially during daytime. Cotton, silk and linen rather than artificial fibers like polyester or rayon are best materials to choose. Though sleeveless tops or shorts invade street fashion on a hot weather, covering up with loose fitting, natural fabrics can also help cool you down and serve as a shade. (more…)
