About 10,000 Filipino families live in the northern town cemetery in Manila. Some inherited the mausoleums from their great-grandparents and now live in there. The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has already decided not to allow our Philippine Women’s Volleyball Team to participate in the upcoming South East Asian Games 2011 in Indonesia.
POC said that the poor performances of the Philippine Women’s Volleyball Team in the past Asian Volleyball Tournaments such as the 12th Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship (AWCVC) prompted them not to give a slot to the PWVT in the Philippine Athlete Delegation that are set to participate in the SEA Games 2011 in Indonesia.
Ms. Rachel Ann Daquis, the designated Team Captain of the PWVT was disappointed after she heard the sad news. But in the end she said that this sad news should instead encourage them to play better next time.
The PWVT is participating in the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) 2011 which is an open invitational tournament that is being held in Ninoy Aquino Stadium. The tournament will end on October 9, 2011.
While umbrellas are flying in the rainy season of Manila, Xiamen’s weather is the exact opposite. It’s nice to enjoy the carefree season of sunshine in this small island paradise but too much heat can lead to trouble too, so let’s take extra care and know what to wear.
Wear Sunscreen Daily! Apply it every morning, at least 30 minutes before stepping out of the house. Make sure you use a sunscreen that’s SPF 15 or higher for better protection from UVB and UVA rays.
Be Cool but Comfortable! Light-colored clothes absorb less heat than dark-colored ones and so it is best to wear it especially during daytime. Cotton, silk and linen rather than artificial fibers like polyester or rayon are best materials to choose. Though sleeveless tops or shorts invade street fashion on a hot weather, covering up with loose fitting, natural fabrics can also help cool you down and serve as a shade. (more…)
